Eight Area of Experience
Welcome to the world of Sales & Marketing – being a Sales Coordinator
As promised I would continue to the Experience I gathered in Bahrain that was left out and not mentioned.
My Eighth experience area of hospitality is Sales & Marketing and it is specifically for Hospitality as we needed to learn the product , that includes the villas prices , spa treatments , prices and packages that we are promoting around the various time frames.
I was given the opportunity to work for sales by a very interesting and also short tempered German lady called Ms. Waike Papke at that time. (She normally asked me not to include the Ms. But I felt the urge to stick it in none the less).
And So began my tasks of preparing contracts, sending them out to all the various clients with the agreed corporate rates, this meant I would need to be in charge of email correspondence and also doing sale blitz on any particular day. You would also be required to take meeting minutes and even arranging and corresponding with every Sales & Marketing associates on behalf of the Director of Sales & Marketing. The sales team I was a part of comprised of the Sales & Marketing Director of course then the Director of Sales, Press Representative, Reservations & Revenue manager, Reservation agents, Events manager, Event coordinator, Sales executives.
I was working in the executive office and it all felt very intimidating when you have never been behind a desk and you find yourself surrounded by the Hotel management especially the General Manager who was Sami Ayari at that time.
I have the greatest amount of respect for the professionalism I have come to experience and found myself admiring Sami Ayari while he was GM in Banyan Tree Bahrain. He truly had the French superior touch to how things must be done even thou he’s not originally from France.
Strange Enough as I just saw while browsing the spelling of Sami Ayaris name I see he is in fact currently with Minor Hotels and resorts which means that he is working in the Executive offices of Anantara , coincidently the offices of the very same Anantra Company I worked for in Abu Dhabi. (Very Interesting for me to find this out. )

What will I be doing?
As Sales Coordinator, you will fully support the sales team with administrative tasks, customer service and receive, qualify and hand over sales leads to the respective Accounts Manager and Sales Director. Specifically, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
- Identify new contacts, develop sales leads, and respond to sales opportunities in order to maximise revenue
- Understand fully the hotel amenities, packages and promotions
- Generate and develop sales leads and contact potential clients to build business relationships
- Produce quotations and written confirmation to all clients
- Produce accurate and timely reports that meet the needs of the Sales Director and senior management to include the reporting of appointments, calls made and business leads
- Monitor customer satisfaction regularly and resolve any outstanding issues to ensure future business

We are currently seeking for passionate and dynamic Sales professionals who pride themselves on their ability to deliver extraordinary levels of customer service and provide creative solutions to our guests.
As a Sales Coordinator you are responsible to handle all the administrative requirements of the sales office whereby your role involves maintaining an organized, systematic and updated filing system in order to ensure easy accessibility to required data and avail loss of data from the hardware and will include key responsibilities such as:
•Prepare and type sales team’s offer letters, update the sales database system and ensure it is reviewed and properly checked before handing it for signature
•Compose letters, memos, faxes and other mail on behalf of the Director of Sales and other executives
•Maintain a prompt and accurate follow up and trace system for all correspondences
•Handle all incoming calls and guest’s inquiries in the absence of the sales team and channel to the concerned if the inquiry requires immediate action
•Ensure that the sales month end report is accomplished and submitted on time
•Ensure that all correspondence and offers related to the sales team goes out within maximum of 24 hours
•Communicate well at all levels dealing with the various administrative demands placed by the pressurized working environment
•Ensure that all equipment is in proper working order and cultivate care for all equipment used
Education, Qualifications & Experiences
You should ideally have a college diploma and relevant previous work experiences. Good computer skills and perfect command of English is a must and any other language skills beside will be an asset.
Knowledge & Competencies
The ideal candidate will be courteous, able to work with minimal supervision, be discreet and capable of dealing with high level of confidentiality. You are self motivated and with a positive attitude, the ability to think laterally and undertake initiatives, along with an outgoing, charismatic and approachable character. You will work well under pressure in a fast paced environment and be a great team player with a concern for quality, while possessing following additional competencies:
